An importer’s paperwork indicated the plywood was Tunisian. But upon inspection, officers found packaging labels in Cyrillic showing model and type details consistent with Russian production.

The goods, valued at over PLN 1 million ($257,000), were detained for further investigation and lab testing, the Pomorska Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa (KAS) has said.

KAS said the seizure could involve a breach of EU sanctions prohibiting the import of Russian-origin products. The containers will remain under customs control pending the outcome of the probe.
