Polish retail sales 0.3% down y/y in March: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went down by 0.3 percent in March at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Wednesday.

Sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics went up by 12.9 percent, and those of clothing and shoes rose 6.7 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of food, beverages and tobacco products went down by 9.4 percent, while those of fuels dropped 0.1 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 0.6 percent higher than in March 2024, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in March were 14.3 percent higher than in February, the statistics office also reported.
