Poland’s Central Transport Hub, between the capital Warsaw and the central city of Łódź, is expected to be one of the largest transfer hubs in Europe and handle up to 45 million passengers annually, with a possible expansion in the future to 100 million.
It is due to be completed by the end of 2027, integrating air, rail and road transport.
Wild said that so-called export financing of the type offered by Britain is granted at a lower interest rate than any other form of loan available on the market, but comes with a condition that the loan-taker uses the services of firms from the country providing the money.
"We have repeatedly said that we are at a time when money is looking for interesting projects, not interesting projects looking for money,” Wild added.
Meanwhile, the o2.pl website reported that Brussels has granted Poland nearly EUR 2 million to start rail projects in the southern Silesia region linked to the new Central Transport Hub.
The website added that these were the first foreign sources of financing for the planned Polish airport.
