The annual event, which in previous years has been billed as the largest conference of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, is usually held in the southern Polish resort of Krynica-Zdrój.

This year it has been moved to the south-western town of Karpacz amid a coronavirus epidemic.

The three-day gathering will be attended by senior Polish government officials and CEOs of top companies.

In the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic which has dented the global economy, the business leaders and politicians are scheduled to debate topics including energy projects, public investment and international politics.

Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is expected to be among the guests.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is scheduled to meet Tsikhanouskaya in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Morawiecki last year received the Man of the Year Award at the Krynica Economic Forum.
