The reading was a notch higher than a flash estimate released by the state-run statistics agency at the end of last month.

In Octoberthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 6.8 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

In SeptemberPoland's consumer price index stood at 5.9 percent, the statistics agency has said.

The Polish government last month unveiled a set of measures to tackle price hikes, dubbed "the anti-inflation shield" and worth a total of PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.1 billion).

The Polish central bank’s Monetary Policy Council last week raised key interest rates for the third time this autumn in a bid to tame inflation.
