Piotr Nowak made the assessment in an interview with public broadcaster Polish Radio on Wednesday.
He said that American investors “are delighted with the strength of the Polish economy and despite the war in Ukraine, are very upbeat about Poland’s growth prospects.”
“America’s biggest technology companies want to expand their offices and operations in our country,” said Nowak, who has been holding talks with US businesses during a visit to Washington.
‘NATO deters Russia’
He added that American entrepreneurs were not worried about the war in Ukraine spilling over into Polish territory because Poland is a member of the NATO military alliance.
“NATO is something that deters Russia,” Nowak said, adding that many firms were considering moving their operations from Russia to Poland.
Poland instead of Russia in G20 club?
While in the American capital, Nowak also held discussions about the possibility of removing Russia from the G20 group of the world’s biggest economies, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
He told Polish Radio that Poland could replace Russia in the G20 club, adding that the plan had been "met with a positive response."
“It’s a new proposal, but everyone agrees that there is no place in such an organisation for a Russia that behaves so brutally and aggressively,” Nowak said.
During his two-day visit to Washington, Nowak met with US Trade Secretary Gina Raimondo; the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva; and officials from the US Department of State, the World Bank and the Polish-American Business Council, the IAR news agency reported.
On Wednesday, Nowak was set to head to Los Angeles to attend the signing of a letter of intent between the Polish Space Agency and US company Virgin Orbit.
The two partners have agreed to cooperate on the supply of technology to enable the launch of satellites into space from Polish territory, according to officials.
Wednesday is day 21 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24.
