The reading was markedly higher than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 12.3 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in March was 18.2 percent higher than in February, the Central Statistical Office said.
Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 17.2 percent in year-on-year terms in March, while growing 2.1 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also said.
According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, industrial production in Poland rose 17.8 percent in February, the second-fastest rate of growth in the 27-nation bloc.
