Polish industrial production up 13% y/y in April: stats office

Industrial production in Poland rose 13 percent in April compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Friday.

The reading was lower than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 15.5 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in April was 11.3 percent lower than in March, the Central Statistical Office said.

Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 15.6 percent in year-on-year terms in April, while falling 0.4 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also said.

According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, seasonally-adjusted industrial production in Poland rose 17.4 percent in March, the third-fastest rate of growth in the 27-nation bloc.
