Mateusz Morawiecki told reporters: “The main topic in Davos today is how to restore disrupted supply chains.”

He added: “First the pandemic and then the war in Ukraine have destroyed them.”

According to Morawiecki, Poland "can be the strongest link in the newly recreated supply chains.”

'We need to create our own solutions'

Visiting an IT systems company in Pruszków near the Polish capital Warsaw, Morawiecki said that “Poland doesn’t want to be merely a subcontractor” in the global economy.

“If we don’t want to be just subcontractors for other people’s projects, we need to create our own solutions,” he added.

Morawiecki praised the Pruszków-based Siltec company, which is a provider of IT systems and solutions for public and security agencies.

He told reporters that Siltec was exporting its products and services to many NATO and European Union countries.

“We are proud to have such companies as Siltec,” Morawiecki said.

New investors for Poland

Morawiecki told reporters that during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, he spoke with the CEOs of some of the world’s biggest companies, including Dell, Google and Intel, as well as Honeywell, AstraZeneca and TikTok.

“I am convinced that these meetings will attract modern technology to Poland, giving jobs to Polish workers, engineers and designers,” he said.

“I have confirmed some big future investment projects,” he revealed.

Wednesday is day 91 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
