The support package, which also includes relief for local governments, was endorsed by the Cabinet at its meeting in Warsaw on Tuesday, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
"Today energy security is key," Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told a news conference. "Energy resources have become a weapon in Putin's hands ... We know that the situation is extremely difficult, but we are trying to take advantage of our good budgetary situation to help citizens."
Under the proposal, households that use heat from small-scale heating plants will receive a one-off allowance of between PLN 1,000 (EUR 210) and PLN 3,900 (EUR 830), according to Climate and Environment Minister Anna Moskwa.
Households that use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for heating will be eligible for a one-off benefit of PLN 500 (EUR 100), and those that use wood chips will be offered PLN 1,000 (EUR 210), Moskwa said earlier this month.
Meanwhile, families using heating oil will receive a one-off allowance of PLN 2,000 (EUR 425), and those that use pellets as fuel will be eligible for PLN 3,000 (EUR 635), she added.
Lawmakers are set to debate the proposed measures at the start of next month, state news agency PAP reported.
Earlier, the government offered a one-off allowance of PLN 3,000 (EUR 637, USD 648) for those who use coal for heating.
That bill has since been approved by parliament and signed into law by President Andrzej Duda.
