Polish industrial production up 9.8% y/y in September: stats office

Industrial production in Poland rose 9.8 percent in September compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office said on Thursday.

The reading was higher than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 8.8 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in September was 9.8 percent higher than in August, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 10.3 percent in year-on-year terms in September, while rising 0.3 percent month on month, the state-run statistics office also said.

According to the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, seasonally-adjusted industrial production in Poland rose 11 percent in August, the fifth-fastest rate of growth in the 27-nation bloc.
