There were around 813,200 people without jobs across the nation at the end of December, down by 82,000 from a year earlier, according to the government.
The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported at the end of last year that the Polish jobless rate had stayed flat at 5.1 percent in November, unchanged from October.
Meanwhile, the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated last month that unemployment in Poland was a modest 3 percent in October, one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc.
