Called bundz, the cheese is described by TasteAtlas as “reminiscent of cottage cheese in flavor and texture," with "a mild, fresh flavor."
Made from sheep's milk, bundz is produced in Poland’s southern mountainous regions.
TasteAtlas adds that “the remaining whey created in the production of bundz is used for the preparation of a traditional Polish sour beverage called żętyca."
Founded in 2015 by Croatian journalist and entrepreneur Matija Babic, TasteAtlas is an experimental travel guide with a focus on traditional food, local ingredients and authentic restaurants.
The top nine places on the list of the world’s best cheeses went to products from Italy, France and Portugal.
