There were around 778,300 people without jobs across the nation at the end of May, down by 18,800 from a month earlier, according to the government.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had dropped to 5.1 percent in April, from 5.3 percent in March.

Meanwhile, the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated earlier this month that unemployment in Poland stood at 3 percent in April, marking the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
