The Gdynia Film Festival is Poland's leading event of the kind - and the Closing Gala of its 51st edition was held on Saturday night at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia.
On the occasion the festival's Main Competition Jury, chaired by esteemed Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi, handed out this year's main prizes' - the Golden and Silver Lions - as well as the individual awards in the Main Competition, and many others.
The Grand Prix of the 51st Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, the Golden Lions for Best Film, was awarded to director Maciej Sobieszczański and producers Zbigniew Domagalski and Agnieszka Będkowska, for their feature "Through The Wall" - also awarded for "Best Cinematography" (Jolanta Dylewska).
The Silver Lions award went to director Łukasz Ronduda and producer Natalia Grzegorek, for their movie "Tell Me What You Feel". For his role in the film, Jan Sałasiński received the "Best Professional Acting Debut" prize.
In Individual Awards, Paweł Pawlikowski scooped the "Best Director" title for the Polish Academy Awards entry "Fatherland" - the picture also awarded for "Best Set Decorations" (Katarzyna Sobańska, Marcel Sławiński).
The "Best Screenplay" prize went to Bartek Bartosik and Naqqash Khalid for "Good Boy", directed by Jan Komasa. Furthermore, the movie got the "Audience Award", and for his role in it Anson Boon received the "Best Leading Actor" title. "Good Boy" also claimed the honour for "Best Editing" (Agnieszka Glińska).
Another multi-award feature of the 51st Polish Film Festival was "Hot Spot". Its director Agnieszka Smoczyńska and producers (Klaudia Śmieja-Rostworowska, Bogna Szewczyk-Skupień, Gregory Jankilevitsch) received the Andrzej Żuławski ‘Golden Claw’ Award - and their film also claimed the titles for "Best Music" (Marcin Macuk and Zuzanna Wrońska), "Best Sound" (Marcin Lenarczyk), and "Best Costume Design" (Katarzyna Lewińska).
The "Best Leading Role Actress" award was claimed by Jaśmina Polak, for her performance in "Exotic", while Monika Frajczyk received the "Best Supporting Role Actress" prize for her role in the feature.
