The new store, accessible at sklep.poczta-polska.pl, aims to diversify the company's revenue streams by venturing into e-commerce.

Previously, Polish Post operated two online stores: one for collectible items and another for packaging and shipping supplies, along with offering newspaper subscriptions online. The new store expands its offerings to include school and office supplies, children's items, beauty products, home and garden goods, souvenirs, and gadgets.

The website has also been revamped for a better user experience. Orders can be picked up at post offices, with shipment tracking available through email updates and the Pocztex Mobile application.

Job reductions amid financial strain

Polish Post has announced a reduction of 5,000 employees over the year by not filling vacancies left by retiring employees or those with expiring contracts. Unions suggest this number could eventually reach up to 10,000 full-time positions. Additionally, group layoffs are anticipated, primarily affecting administrative roles. The scale of these layoffs is yet to be determined.

"The financial situation is extremely difficult. The company requires a comprehensive transformation, so carrying out this process is a priority for the management," the press office of Polish Post explained.

The number of employees at Polish Post has already decreased significantly, falling by more than 15,000 full-time positions since before the pandemic, down to 63,000. This number could drop further to about 53,000 by the end of the year.
