Significant subsidies for electric bicycles available starting in 2025

The program could start functioning at the beginning of the next year, reported IAR.

For standard electric bikes, the refund will be a maximum of 5,000 PLN (up to 50% of eligible costs). Cargo bikes, designed for transporting goods using a special cart, will qualify for up to 9,000 PLN (up to 50% of eligible costs, but not exceeding 9,000 PLN).

Beginning in early 2025, a new program called "My Electric Bike" will provide subsidies for purchasing new electric bicycles, which is currently still in the public consultation phase (the first stage was supposed to end on July 18).

Funds from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management will cover up to 50% of the cost of new equipment, with a total budget of 300 million PLN allocated for this purpose.

The subsidy for electric bicycles is expected to be up to 5,000 PLN, while the subsidy for cargo bikes will be higher, up to 9,000 PLN.

According to Michał Beim, who specializes in transportation issues at the Sobieski Institute, the subsidy program could have a positive impact on the Polish economy.

Expert predicts that the subsidies will not only boost the sales of electric bicycles in Poland but also potentially reduce Poland's dependence on imported oil and petroleum products.
