The "Poles attitudes to finance" study is carried out periodically and, according to Anna Bichta, president of the Think! Foundation, the results are increasingly positive.

"More and more people are putting away a certain amount of money regularly, every month," she told Polish Radio, adding that "for the past five years, there has been a noticeable decline in the percentage of those who believe that it is not worth saving."

Bichta also added that the study shows that "saving to secure one's future in retirement, after a decline in interest between 2019 and 2021, has again become one of the top four goals and is on an upward trend."

However, according to Dr Katarzyna Sekścińska, a psychologist and economist from the University of Warsaw, it is not the saving itself that counts, but its regularity. She stressed it was key to save regularly and deliberately, to form the habit of putting money aside, regardless of one's life situation.

The survey also shows that respondents’ pessimism about their households' financial future has decreased.

Seventy percent believe that their financial situation will not worsen either within a year or within five years.
