Poland lags behind EU peers in eco-friendly transport

Poland lags behind its European Union counterparts in embracing eco-friendly transport, with electric vehicles (EVs) accounting for only about 3 percent of the country’s new passenger car market, according to a recent study.

This figure places Poland near the bottom of the EU rankings, in third-to-last place.

“At present, there are some 80,000 fully electric cars registered in Poland," said Maciej Gis, an expert with the Polish Association for New Mobility.

“Between October and November, we observed a 37-percent month-to-month drop in EV registrations—the first such decline on record—even though the overall segment is still growing," he added.
