Poland’s first coronavirus patient recovers

Poland’s first patient to contract the coronavirus has recovered, the health ministry said late on Tuesday, even as the total number of infections in the country rose to 238.

The first case of the Covid-19 illness caused by the virus was confirmed by Polish authorities on March 4.

The patient, a resident of Poland’s western Lubuskie province, was due to be released from a hospital in the city of Zielona Góra on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the health ministry said on Tuesday evening that the overall number of coronavirus cases in Poland had risen to 238.

The death toll stood at five. The country's first coronavirus fatality was announced last Thursday.

Polish Cabinet members tested for the illness after the country’s environment minister was diagnosed with Covid-19 have been given the green light.
