Pole elected to lead European AIDS research body

Prof. Miłosz Parczewski, a Polish infectious diseases specialist, has been elected a new president of the European AIDS Clinical Society.

He will take up his duties in 2025.

Parczewski is a practicing infectious diseases physician, currently working as head of the Infectious Diseases and Hepatology Clinic at the Pomeranian Medical University Hospital in Szczecin, northwestern Poland.

He also heads the Polish Scientific AIDS Society and is a member of the European Society on Antiviral Resistance. His research focuses on molecular epidemiology in the context of "HIV infection and HCV co-infection."

The Brussels-based European AIDS Clinical Society is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote excellence in standards of care, research and education in HIV and related co-infections, and to actively engage in public health policy making to reduce the HIV disease burden across Europe.

A European AIDS conference is due to be held in Warsaw in October next year.
