One of Poland's most renowned authors is widely recognized for her active involvement in social issues. She has frequently spoken out publicly on topics such as refugees, minority rights, and support for environmental activists.
According to the portal Onet.pl, in May 2024, a citizens' initiative committee, including representatives from the Viva! Foundation, was formed to draft an amendment to the Animal Protection Act. The Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, approved the collection of signatures for this initiative.
The proposed bill includes provisions aimed at improving the situation of dogs and cats in Poland and reducing their suffering, which is crucial in combating animal cruelty, illegal breeding, and homelessness, explained Cezary Wyszyński, president of the Viva! Foundation.
Currently, a collection of 100,000 signatures is underway, which is necessary to move the bill forward in the Sejm, with details about the collection points available online and on social media.
