Nearly one in five (18%) has fallen victim to data or financial theft.

The report, shared with the Polish Press Agency, examined common methods used by cybercriminals, the demographics most at risk, and effective strategies for protecting against these attacks. Findings show that those aged 30 to 39 were the most frequently targeted, with 66% encountering fraud. In comparison, 36% of people over 60 reported similar experiences.

Interestingly, only 11% of seniors experienced cyber fraud, despite perceptions of their higher vulnerability. Younger individuals, aged 18 to 29, had a 24% victim rate. The report suggests that attackers often use social media, location data, and online activity to profile potential victims.

For instance, people with a net monthly income between PLN 5,000–5,999 (EUR 1150-1380) were the most frequently targeted, with nearly two-thirds in this income group receiving fraudulent messages, while half of those earning between PLN 3,000–3,999 (EUR 690-920) also reported phishing attempts.

Awareness of these cyber threats appears to be rising, with nearly three-quarters (73%) of respondents successfully avoiding attacks.
