The former Polish Minister of Justice was supposed to be brought before the committee on Friday, but he did not appear, as he was giving a live interview on the right-wing TV Republika at the same time.
The Polish police attempted multiple times to detain Zbigniew Ziobro in order to bring him before the Pegasus investigation committee, but were unsuccessful.
Due to his absence, the committee voted to request the Attorney General to seek disciplinary action, including arrest. Ziobro, claiming the committee was acting illegally, refused to appear before it, citing a ruling by the Constitutional Tribunal that declared its activities unconstitutional.

European Parliament member Krzysztof Brejza commented for Polish Radio, "Everything Zbigniew Ziobro does is theater, but his performance is coming to an end - these are the final chords before criminal responsibility."
The Pegasus Investigation Committee is a parliamentary body in Poland formed to investigate the alleged misuse of the Pegasus spyware to target journalists, opposition politicians, and activists. The committee is tasked with examining how the software was used by the government and whether it violated privacy rights and laws.
