German authorities recently raised alarms after three of their nationals were denied entry to the U.S. and placed in immigration centers.

This prompted European Union member states to examine if changes in U.S. immigration policy could impact their citizens, as Trump has pledged “the largest deportation operation in the nation’s history.”

Polish cases

Of the 14 Poles awaiting deportation, three allegedly violated migration rules, while the rest committed other crimes or offenses, Poland’s Foreign Ministry said, noting that most detainees rarely seek consular aid.

The ministry estimates as many as 30,000 Polish nationals may reside illegally in America.

In 2024—during Joe Biden’s presidency—the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency reportedly deported 67 Polish citizens. Following the renewed emphasis on deportations in 2025, Polish consulates in the U.S. have added extra services and remain on heightened alert, the ministry said.
