UPDATE: Knife attack in Warsaw, Polish police detain two people

Police detained a woman and a man, both Polish citizens, following a knife attack on Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw on Thursday evening, which left a 47-year-old man hospitalized with stab wounds.

The incident occurred near a kebab shop, close to the intersection of Marszałkowska and Hoża Streets. Authorities also reported on social media that the victim had been wanted prior to the attack.

"Earlier today, officers from the central district arrested two individuals, a woman and a man, who may be linked to the criminal event," said Junior Asp. Jakub Pacyniak from the Warsaw Central Police Department in a comment to the Polish state news agency PAP.

"The investigation is ongoing," he added on Friday.

The victim, a man in his 50s or 60s, suffered three stab wounds to his forearm and a damaged artery. Emergency services rushed him to Bródno Hospital, where they fought to save his life.
