Polish linguist Professor Bralczyk hospitalized after car accident

Professor Jerzy Bralczyk, a renowned Polish language expert, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following a car accident on Wednesday afternoon in central Poland.

The 77-year-old scholar was on his way to a meeting with readers near Kielce, located southeast of Warsaw, when the accident happened. Police are investigating the circumstances.

Polish state news agency PAP, citing police findings, reported that the crash occurred when a 66-year-old man driving an Opel, likely during a U-turn, collided with a BMW driven by a 67-year-old man.

Both the BMW driver and his 77-year-old passenger, Professor Bralczyk, sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital in the Świętokrzyskie region, in the southeastern part of Poland.

Fortunately, both drivers were sober at the time of the accident. The cultural center later announced that the event with Professor Bralczyk would be rescheduled, wishing him a swift recovery.
