A special campaign called the Night of the Confessionals is held by priests across the country every year to encourage people to go to confession during the Holy Week.
The annual initiative was launched in 2010 to make it easier for the faithful to "celebrate the sacrament of penance," according to church officials.
The coordinator of the campaign, Fr. Grzegorz Adamski, says the Night of the Confessionals initiative aims to "deepen the spiritual experience of the Easter holidays" and encourage worshippers to "reflect on their lives and their relationship with God."
According to pollster CBOS, 54 percent of Poles go to confession in the run-up to Easter.
