Meanwhile, 16.6 percent hold the opposite view, the DoRzeczy.pl website reported on Sunday evening, citing a poll it commissioned from researcher Estymator.

In the study, 47.2 percent of respondents said Poland was "rather unlikely" to leave the EU in the near future, while 33.5 percent described such a scenario as "definitely improbable," DoRzeczy.pl said.

Meanwhile, 3.3 percent of those surveyed said a Polish exit from the EU was "very likely," and 13.3 percent described it as "quite likely," the website said.

The remaining 2.6 percent of respondents were undecided, according to DoRzeczy.pl.

The survey was conducted on February 7-8 on a sample of 1,100 adult respondents using the computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method.

Poland has been a member of the EU since May 1, 2004.

Britain on January 31 became the first country to leave the bloc after 47 years of membership in a process called Brexit.
