In line with new regulations, which came into force on Saturday, drivers will no longer have to carry thier licences while driving. In case of police controls the document can be checked by means of a special system.
According to the rules, if the details provided by the driver are validated through the electronic means by the police no physical document would be demanded for inspection , even in case of offences which demand the retaining of the document.
The new rules introduced, will help to avoid situations when drivers had been fined for failing to show the licences while stopped by a road patrol, having forgotten or misplaced the document. Such an offence cost the drivers 50 PLN, (some 11 Euro), but they could no longer continue driving the car, which was in many cases a very significant problem.
The new regulations, however do not embrace foreigners driving on Polish roads, who are obliged to provide their licences if stopped by police.
