Entitled “Thank you, Friends,” the “march of gratitude” started in front of parliament before going along the city's scenic Royal Route to Castle Square, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The rally was held as an initiative by Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, Andrii Deshchytsia, officials said.
Deshchytsia said in a tweet on Saturday: “War reveals who your real friends are. Polish people are our real friends who fight alongside us every day!”
'March of gratitude'
“This is a march of gratitude for the kind-heartedness and help, for the friendship and support extended to our nation,” the Ukrainian embassy said.
The marchers carried a large “Thank you” banner, the national flag of Ukraine, and Polish and Ukrainian symbols.
Chanting “Thank you, thank you,” they gave Polish people flowers and blue-and-yellow bowknots in gratitude, the PAP news agency reported.
Arriving at Castle Square, the demonstrators joined a Ukrainian fair that continued throughout Sunday.
In the evening, the public was treated to a concert that featured both Polish and Ukrainian acts.
Performers included Ukraine’s singer-songwriter Maria Burmaka and electro folk pop group Kazka, alongside Poland’s ska punk combo Poparzeni Kawą Trzy, the PAP news agency reported.
Monday is day 96 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
Poland on Monday reported it had welcomed 3.7 million refugees fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
