Mateusz Morawiecki held a news conference to mark the launch of the tourist site in the picturesque village of Solina, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
New holiday destination, hundreds of new jobs
The prime minister said: “This new resort represents a new holiday option for the residents of Poland and for foreign tourists alike, but it’s also an important economic investment. It creates hundreds of new jobs in the tourism industry.”
EUR 23.4 mln project
He added that the new facility had been completed in 18 months “thanks to excellent cooperation between the central government and the local administration.”
Built at a cost of PLN 110 million (EUR 23.4 million), the resort is owned by the state-controlled Polish Cable Transport (PKL) company, the PAP news agency reported.
Morawiecki told reporters that the resort was built after the government in 2018 regained control over the mountain cable car operator, one of the biggest employers in the region, as a result of buying back foreign-held assets.
Gondola lift over Lake Solina
A key attraction of the new resort is a modern gondola lift that travels 1.6 kilometres over the scenic Lake Solina and the famous Solina Dam, officials told reporters.
