Polish gov’t earmarks EUR 12.7 mln for intergenerational education: minister

Poland will spend PLN 60 million (EUR 12.7 million) on projects promoting intergenerational education, the country’s education and science minister has said.

Przemysław Czarnek made the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Czarnek told the media that PLN 60 million (EUR 12.7 million) had been made available to non-governmental organisations, in the education ministry’s first-ever initiative of its kind.

“PLN 40 million (EUR 8.5 million) is earmarked for broadly defined investment projects and PLN 20 million (EUR 4.2 million) for intergenerational-education activities,” the minister said.

“We appeal to organisations to take an interest in these funds, which can also be spent on the education of Ukrainian children,” he added.

EUR 191 mln for education of Ukrainian children

Czarnek also reiterated that his ministry has so far transferred PLN 900 million (EUR 191 million) to local governments for the education of child refugees from war-torn Ukraine, the IAR news agency reported.
