In a trilingual message posted on his website, the Polish president said: “Shanah Tovah! Have a Good Year! – these joyful words traditionally resonate in your families, among friends and acquaintances during the celebrations of Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year. On this occasion, I would like to convey to you my cordial wishes of the best of health, every success and happiness."
Duda added: "I wish you that this New Year abound in prosperity for the entire Jewish community in Poland.
"May it bring a lot of optimism, hope for the future and contentment with all your personal plans, as well as lots of satisfaction with the work for our Homeland. May it also be a time filled with peace which invariably constitutes a profound source of joy.
"Have a Good and Sweet New Year!"
The Jewish New Year is a two-day celebration. This year it began at sunset on Sunday, Sept. 25, and ends at sunset on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
