Wednesday 28 September, the former bodybuilder, filmstar (famous most of all for the Terminator film series) and governor of California, visited the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp and the Oświęcim Jewish Museum.

The Jewish Museum in Oświęcim, as well as commemorating the past, is dedicated to counteracting racism today. Schwarzenegger added his voice to that message, saying that, "Noone deserves to suffer discrimination or hatred."

The Hollywood star paid his respects by placing a candle in honour of the Holocaust's victims both in former Auschwitz I and in Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

Photographs from the visit can be viewed at the website of the Polish Press Agency (PAP).
