Meanwhile, 63 percent of respondents said they were not afraid of the virus, according to the survey by pollster CBOS.
Fifty-nine percent of those aged 65 and over answered in the affirmative when asked if they were worried they could contract COVID-19, Poland's PAP news agency reported.
The survey was carried out from November 7 to 17 on a sample of 1,038 adult respondents.
Meanwhile, more than 2 million Poles have come down with the flu this season, according to officials.
Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska told public broadcaster Polish Radio on Tuesday that nearly 300,000 flu infections were reported in the country in the week from December 16 to 22. He urged the public to vaccinate themselves against the illness.
“According to experts, one of the causes of this spike in flu cases is the fact that we had lived in isolation, ‘in a bubble,’ during the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, and this has brought about a general decrease in immunity,” Kraska said.
He added: “This season, the main problem is the flu, not COVID-19.”
He told Polish Radio that 162 new COVID-19 infections had been reported across the country during the previous 24 hours, while the overall number of cases "remained just below 1,200."
