Polish passport ranked ninth-most powerful in the world

Poland has come in ninth place in the latest Henley Passport Index, a ranking of the world's passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.

The Japanese passport provides hassle-free entry to 193 countries, followed by Singapore and South Korea, each with a score of 192.

Further down the list are Germany and Spain (190); Finland, Italy and Luxembourg (189); Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden (188); France, Ireland, Portugal and Britain (187); Belgium, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, the United States and the Czech Republic (186); and Australia, Canada, Greece and Malta (185).

Poland shares ninth place with Hungary, with the Polish passport giving easy access to 184 nations.

Afghan nationals sit at the bottom of the index, being able to access just 27 countries without requiring a visa in advance.
