Zbigniew Rau noted that Tuesday was the last day for Polish expatriates to register for the vote.
“We expect the figure to exceed 600,000 by today's deadline at midnight,” Rau told a press briefing, adding that “a radical increase" was "clearly visible in the number of voters.”
He predicted that the figure would be "three times" that in parliamentary elections eight years ago.
“Four years ago, it was 314,000,” he said.
This year, twice as many people will be serving on precinct electoral commissions to handle the increased demand, Rau told reporters.
He added that "nearly 70 percent more polling commissions" and 60 new polling stations have been established for this purpose.

Poles will head to the ballot box on October 15 to elect 460 new MPs and 100 senators for a four-year term.
In August, Poland's lawmakers approved a plan to combine parliamentary elections with a nationwide referendum on issues including illegal migration.
