The nominees are Gdańsk University of Technology on the Baltic coast, Jagiellonian University of Kraków in southern Poland, and Opole University of Technology in southwestern Poland. All three are pivotal centers of research and higher education in Poland.
The Elsevier award is a distinguished honor that aims to encourage research and scientific development. It is presented by Elsevier, a scholarly publishing company that, every year, also compiles a list of the top 2% of the most influential researchers worldwide. Elsevier is also the owner of Scopus, the largest database of scientific publications globally.
The universities and research institutions which receive this award are recognized for their significant impact on scientific research and their contribution to enhancing the visibility of Polish science around the world.
Professor Grzegorz Królczyk, the Vice-Rector for Science and Development at Opole University of Technology, conveyed the university's pride in receiving the nomination. "This nomination honors the work of the entire scientific community of Opole University of Technology. Belonging to the top three scientific environments in Poland is something we are extremely proud of. This would not have been possible without raising the level of internationalization and scientific cooperation with other technical universities," said Professor Królczyk, according to the Polish Press Agency (PAP).
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Łódź on October 26, during the meeting of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland. The Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award is a notable recognition that validates the influential research and developmental strides made by educational institutions in the scientific domain.
