All Saints' Day on November 1 and All Souls' Day on November 2 are when millions of Poles visit the graves of their loved ones, often travelling hundreds of kilometres to their home towns.
Polish police stepped up patrols on major roads in the run-up to the All Saints' Day public holiday.
Officers were paying special attention to the speed at which vehicles traveled and were also checking to make sure drivers were sober.
Police stopped 708 drunk drivers from October 31 to November 2, traffic police spokesman Robert Opas told reporters on Friday.
