Culture Minister Piotr Gliński unveiled the details at a news conference in Warsaw earlier this week.
Gliński said November 11 would see “a joyous and family-based celebration of the 105th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence.”
He said the government would hold “a multitude of events” to mark the occasion, including the collective singing of the Polish national anthem at noon and the annual Independent Poland Festival on Warsaw’s Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.
The culture minister said the festival was bound to attract thousands.
The event offers a mixture of dances, music parades, fashion shows, stage performances and VR films, set against the backdrop of 1920s Warsaw, complete with vintage cars of the period.
Also, actors portraying Poland’s independence fathers, including Marshal Józef Piłsudski, will reenact landmark speeches that played a part in the country’s re-emergence as a sovereign country in 1918, according to officials.
Music fans will get to see pop acts including Karaś/Rogucki, Sara James and Kamil Bednarek, the PAP news agency reported.
On the eve of Independence Day, on November 10, Warsaw’s Polski Theatre will host a concert entitled Matejko: The Faces of the Polish Soul, depicting Polish history through the works of the painter Jan Matejko to the accompaniment of the greatest hits of Poland’s rock music, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The bill includes Katarzyna Dąbrowska, Janusz Radek and Natalia Sikora, among other acts.
The concert will be aired by public broadcaster TVP at 5:30 p.m. on Independence Day.
Speaking to reporters, Gliński encouraged Poles to join Independence Day festivities across the country.
The culture minister said Independence Day celebrations helped “build the community through remembrance and respect for the past.”
