Pride of Poland auction sells 10 horses for 637,000 EUR

At the 55th Pride of Poland auction held on Sunday in Janów Podlaski, eastern Poland, 10 horses were sold for nearly 640,000 EUR, a substantial decrease compared to last year's auction where 14 horses fetched over 2.1 million EUR.

The auction included 15 mares and three stallions. Twelve of these horses were from state studs in Janów Podlaski, Białka, and Michałów while the remaining six came from private breeders.

The top bid was 145,000 EUR for a 15-year-old grey mare named Zigi Zana from Michałów, located in south-central Poland, purchased by a Belgian buyer.

A four-year-old grey mare, Alexandra, from Janów Podlaski, sold for 120,000 EUR to a buyer from Qatar, and a three-year-old grey mare, Abellia, also from Janów Podlaski, went for 105,000 EUR to another Belgian buyer.

This year's Pride of Poland auction saw 10 horses sold for a total of 637,000 EUR, with buyers from Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Sweden, and Slovenia. Eight horses did not meet their reserve prices and remained unsold, including four from private breeders.

In comparison, last year's auction sold 14 horses for over 2.1 million EUR, with the highest price being 810,000 EUR for the mare El Esmera.

Summer Sale of Arab Horses offers 32 lots following Pride of Poland auction

As is tradition, the Summer Sale of Arab Horses will follow the Pride of Poland auction on Monday, providing buyers with the chance to bid on young breeding horses, typically at lower prices than those at the Pride of Poland.

This year’s Summer Sale will present 32 horses, including 26 mares (seven of which are young two- and three-year-olds) and six stallions, with 20 coming from state studs and the remainder from private breeders.

Last year, the Summer Sale saw 16 horses sold for a total of 324,000 EUR. The highest sales record was set in 2015, when 24 horses were auctioned for almost 24 million EUR.
