"We are proud to share that Adam Gąsienica-Samek, a student at XIV High School in Warsaw, won a gold medal at the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics," announced the Polish Ministry of Education via social media.
The 36th International Olympiad in Informatics took place from September 1-8, 2024, in Alexandria, Egypt.
The competition featured 362 students from 91 countries, with each country allowed to send a team of up to four participants.
Among the Polish representatives were students who achieved top placements in the national Informatics Olympiad last school year.
Rafał Mańczyk, a graduate of XVI High School in Wrocław, also received a gold medal and placed 19th overall. Silver medals were awarded to Kajetan Ramszy and Jan Gwiazda, graduates of XIV High School in Warsaw, who ranked 32nd and 34th, respectively.
In the unofficial country medal standings, Poland tied for 3rd place with Japan, while the USA and Israel took the top two spots.
