Frostpunk 2, the sequel to the highly acclaimed BAFTA-nominated society game, is a city-building survival video game developed and published by 11 Bit Studios. Frostpunk 2 tasks players to take on the role of a leader in an alternate history in the early 20th century “to build and manage a city during a catastrophic, worldwide volcanic winter that almost destroyed human civilization while making morally and politically controversial choices to ensure its survival,” says the game’s official website.

The game debuted on Steam on Friday to an impressive 30,000 concurrent players, just hours after launch.

This result puts Frostpunk 2 above recent releases such as Final Fantasy XVI (peak 22,684 players) and God of War Ragnarok (maximum 25,471 players). The game quickly shot to second place on Steam's global bestseller list, behind only EA Sports FC 25.

The players' enthusiasm is also visible in the reviews. Almost 90% of the comments on Steam are positive.

The market analysts predict sales could reach up to 2 million copies over the next 12 months.
