“An award-winning fencer, a strong and determined woman of success, a brilliant conversationalist,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said of Dmowska-Andrzejuk in a social media post on Tuesday.
“One can safely venture to say that Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk has a Midas touch for sport as few others do,” Morawiecki added.
Dmowska-Andrzejuk, a 2005 world épée champion, is expected to take over as Poland's sports minister from Witold Bańka, a former 400-metres runner-turned-politician who was last month confirmed as the new head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Morawiecki himself has been doubling as sports minister since his new Cabinet was sworn into office last month.
