The stadium was closed down on Friday with immediate effect after a defect was detected in a roof structure.
Sport minister Kamil Bortniczuk said on Saturday that the venue’s architects and builders had advised an immediate closure due to urgent repairs.
An annual check-up has recently revealed a growing crack in one of the metal structures that support the roof. Experts will come up with repair plans on Monday, Bortniczuk said.
The National Stadium, Poland’s largest sporting arena, was due to host a Poland-Chile football friendly on Wednesday.
Poland’s Football Association said the game itself was not endangered and would be moved to the Legia Warsaw Stadium.
The match is going to be the last test for Poland’s national squad before they leave for Qatar World Cup the following day.
Unlike Poland, Chile failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Qatar between November 20-December 18.
