Leon joined the Polish team in July 2019.

Poland won the 2023 Men's European Volleyball Championship after beating Italy 3-0 in the final in Rome on Saturday night.

The MVP distinction was the only individual honor presented at the conclusion of the tournament. Accepting it, Leon called volleyball a "family game" and said he did not feel like a celebrity.

Radio Poland's Danuta Isler spoke to him following the launch of his volleyball academy (Akademia Wilfredo Leona) in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Classes at the Wilfredo Leon Academy are offered in Poland's capital as well as the northern city of Toruń in two age groups, and the idea behind the project is to "get kids away from their computers and to get them moving," Leon told Radio Poland.
