In previous matches, Poland beat Olympic Champions the United States 3:1, defeated Germany 3:2 and lost against Thailand 2:3 in the qualifying tournament in the Polish city of Łódz.
Thanks to their momentous victory over Italy, the Poland women's volleyball team will compete in their first Olympic Games in 16 years.
The other country to clinch a ticket to Paris in the Łódź tournament is the US.
