The Polish world No. 9 saw off the 53rd-ranked American 7-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the men's singles on Friday.
The fifth-seeded Pole will now play Germany's Alexander Zverev, the second seed, for a place in the championship match.
The Pole is now guaranteed to climb to at least No. 7 in the world—a new career-high for the 27-year-old—when the rankings are updated on Monday, according to reports.
Hurkacz defeated Italian Flavio Cobolli, 7-5, 7-6, and Australian qualifier James Duckworth, 7-6 , 6-4, earlier in the tournament.
Two years ago, Hurkacz won the tournament in Halle.
The 2024 Halle Open runs until Sunday.
