This will be the 43-year-old’s second match as a referee at the European championships in Germany, after a group-stage game between Belgium and Romania in Cologne on June 22, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Marciniak will be assisted by Polish linesmen Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik at the German capital's Olympiastadion on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Tomasz Kwiatkowski will be a video assistant referee for the Italy vs. Switzerland match, which kicks off at 6 p.m. (CEST), public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Nineteen referees from various countries have been selected to officiate during the Euro 2024 tournament, which opened on June 10 and has now entered its knockout stage.

Marciniak refereed matches during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 2018 World Cup in Russia and Euro 2018.

Teams from various European countries are scheduled to play a total of 51 matches in 10 cities in Germany before the Euro 2024 tournament wraps up on July 14.

The Polish side was sent packing from the 24-team tournament after losing its first two group-stage matches against the Netherlands and Austria.

The Poles on Tuesday drew 1-1 with France in their final game at Euro 2024, having already crashed out of the championships.
